Sleeping in your clothes
Today, my middle son and oldest daughter thought that they had found a very efficient way to be ready for school the next day. The title of this post gives it away I guess. Yep, they thought that sleeping in their clothes would be a great idea. You see, this way they can wake up the next morning and be all set for school. :-)
When I told them (While trying not to laugh) that their clothes would be all wrinkly the next morning they objected that a friend of theirs at school does this. I'm going to ask them to point this student out the next time I visit.

Attention, Fathers
BenedictaJoy shares some of the pain of an unreconciled relationship with her father, and gives some advice:
A father's love, the touch of his hand on your head in blessing, is a potent thing. Bestowed, it can bring life and blessing. Withheld, it has the power to destroy......Fathers, take note. Give life. Give love. Bless each daughter and son today....Not tomorrow. Today.

Caroline Margaret White
Our new daughter was born Friday morning, 12 November 2004; she weighed 6lb 2oz and was 19 inches long. She has lots of black hair on the sides and back of her head, not so much on the top yet. This morning they removed her CPAP machine and began feedings, which she's tolerating well, and she should be moved out of the NICU in a few days. Meanwhile, Lisa is recovering quickly and should be home on her birthday tomorrow.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
(Pictures to come soon...)
P.S. "Caroline" is a derivative of Charles, my first name, and we haven't yet decided which Margaret, though at the moment I'm leaning toward Saint Margaret Clitherow.

Whatsoever you do...
I was watching the mass on EWTN this evening and that phrase in today's readings caused several thoughts to gel.
Today was a day off and we were preparing the roses for winter. We cut them back, muched around them and put covers over them. The original forecast was for snow tonight, but that has now moved to tomorrow afternoon. I also cut down a couple of birches. One of them was dead and would probably have hit the garage this winter.
This sort of work always leaves me time to ponder things as I work with cutters and bow-saw.
An image of Jesus came to me. In this case he was scarred as if he had been cut apart.
Over the course of the afternoon, I reflected on a High School classmate of our youngest daughter. This classmate had been in track and cross country with Bethany over the last two school years. She was not in XC this year as she wanted to keep her internship with NARAL.
It took the "whatsoever you do to the least of my people" for it to all pull together.
The roses were also a reminder for me to get a rosary in my hand and pray for all those young women who are faced with "an impossible choice" and the pagan voices suggesting "the easy" way out. May they make the choice of another young woman who chose to trust in God.
Mary, Mother of God, pray for those who do not even recognize that they can have recourse to thee.
I pray for my daughter and all those who have to be "In the world and not of it". May our prayers and example continue to lead them to God.

November 12
Looks like November 12 will be our youngest daughter's birthday, if all goes well: we have a C-section scheduled for 7:30 Friday morning. We're down to nine names. When naming babies we usually keep a small reserve of a dozen or so until we see the baby. In a gesture of unsurpassed generosity and charity, fellow blogger Walter Babetski sent Lisa a relic of Saint Gianna Beretta Molla! Thanks, Walter! (Though I selfishly hope we won't be scheduling Lisa's canonization anytime soon :-)
